NSBE STEM GALA – Remembering Black Wall Street: Building Black America
February 26, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Between the Civil War and the end of Reconstruction, there were many Black communities that thrived economically solely based on the Black dollar throughout America. This was known as Black Wall Street. The number of Black economic successes included 600 businesses, banks, churches, hotels, restaurants, private airplanes, libraries, law offices, grocery stores, schools, a bus system, and more.
The STEM GALA will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of an affluent Black business community known as the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This area was attacked by White rioters who destroyed businesses, homes and left hundreds of Black people in Greenwood homeless or dead. Although this was a tragic event, the NSBE Professionals San Diego Chapter will celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of their members and partners who have excelled in entrepreneurship, STEM fields, academics, leadership, and community impact.
